Spring Cleaning: Part 1 - Clean out your Cleaning Products! (+DIY healthy cleaners!)
So. It's Spring!
It's finally here! The season of April Showers, May Flowers, and... Spring Cleaning.
Whether you love or loathe this seasonal cleaning spree, I think most of us would agree that the end result is worth the process. Hard work and elbow grease give way to Spring-ly lightness and decluttered-ness, and we put away the deep cleaning products for the time being to go and welcome the sun.
But what if the products you're using to rid your house of dirt, dust, mould, and grime were also disrupting your body's natural hormone balance, creating inflammation in your body, damaging your sinuses and lungs, and polluting the ground water supply?
Unfortunately, if you're using "conventional" cleaning products, that IS in fact the 'ugly truth'.
Luckily, we have so many alternatives to choose from that work JUST as well as their chemical-laden counterparts! In some cases, they may require an added edge of elbow grease (for example, cleaning your oven), but most of the time, that isn't even necessary.
Here are the ingredients for pretty much everything you need to clean your home:
Baking Soda
Vinegar (5% or 10% acetic acid)
Castille Soap
Olive Oil
Lemon juice
Essential oils (for scent, and for their myriad of antiseptic benefits: lavendar and lemon are favourites)
Annnd....water. That's IT.
