What IS Naturopathic Medicine, or "Naturopathy"?

How can it help?

For those of you who are new to Naturopathic Medicine or "Naturopathy", let's get you acquainted with what a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is, and what you can see a Naturopathic Doctor for.

Naturopathic Doctors (NDs), are primary health care providers. This means you can see us for any concerns you would bring to your Medical Doctor (MD).

Common Reasons for Seeing a Naturopathic Doctor include:

  • Digestive Health (IBS, heartburn, constipation, indigestion)

  • Hormone Health (PMS, Menopause, Infertility)

  • Thyroid Health

  • Diabetes

  • ADHD and executive dysfunction

  • Depression, Anxiety, Seasonal Affective Disorder

  • Heart Disease (or risk of heart disease)

  • Arthritis or Joint Pain

  • Stress

  • Fatigue

  • Migraines

  • Food Sensitivities or Allergies

  • Skin Health (Eczema, Psoriasis, rashes)

  • Anti-Aging Medicine

  • Sleep (Insomnia)

  • Health Optimization (tweaks to put you at your best!)

  • ETC! (This could be a very, VERY long list)

What Sets Us Apart:

The difference between and ND and an MD is in the way that an ND will treat your concerns. Naturopathic Principles guide NDs to treat the whole person, and involve patients in the management of their own health. This allows you to be an active participant in your health, and also provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals openly.

NDs are focused on preventative health as well as helping you meet your current health goals.  A Naturopathic Doctor will do a thorough intake, and will create an individualized treatment plan based on your concerns and goals. See the "About" page for more information on me (Emily Murphy ND), and specific treatment and assessment tools.
